Can you epoxy over old concrete?
Yes, as long as the concrete is properly prepared first. Old concrete often has surface contamination, prior sealers, or hairline cracks that need to be ground away and repaired before a coating will actually bond. Diamond grinding opens the pores of the concrete so the epoxy can mechanically key into the surface instead of just sitting on top of it, which is the difference between a floor that lasts for years and one that peels within months. Age of the concrete matters less than its condition. A 30-year-old garage slab in good shape can take a coating just as well as a newer one, provided it’s ground and tested for moisture first.
