1. Who and What This Warranty Covers
This express limited warranty is provided by Garage Designs of St. Louis, Inc. to the original individual homeowner who contracted directly with Garage Designs for a qualifying residential interior epoxy floor coating installation at the residence identified in the written contract.
To qualify, the project must:
- Be installed for normal residential interior use.
- Be completed under a contract signed on or after July 15, 2026.
- Be installed by Garage Designs of St. Louis, Inc.
- Have a project balance that has been paid in full.
- Remain at the original installation address and under the ownership of the original contracting homeowner.
This warranty is not retroactive. Installations completed under earlier contracts remain subject to the warranty terms issued for those projects.
2. Limited Lifetime Residential Installation Coverage
For as long as the original contracting homeowner owns the residence, Garage Designs warrants the qualifying residential interior epoxy floor coating system against covered peeling, delamination, blistering, bubbling, or adhesion-related chipping when Garage Designs determines that the failure was caused solely by:
- A defect in coating materials supplied by Garage Designs for the project; or
- An error by Garage Designs in the surface preparation or application of the coating system.
Chipping is covered only when it results from a covered loss of adhesion caused by defective materials or an error by Garage Designs in surface preparation or application.
Chipping caused by impact, abrasion, scratching, gouging, dragging objects, misuse, normal wear, or another excluded condition is not covered.
3. Remedy for a Covered Claim
After inspection and confirmation of a covered failure, Garage Designs will, at its option, repair, recoat, or replace the affected coating area. The covered remedy includes reasonable coating materials and ordinary installation labor required for that repair.
The following conditions apply to the remedy:
- Garage Designs is responsible for the affected covered area, not unaffected portions of the floor.
- A complete floor replacement is not required unless Garage Designs determines that it is reasonably necessary to perform the covered repair.
- Garage Designs may use comparable current materials if the original product, color, flake blend, sheen, or formulation is no longer available.
- A repaired area may vary in color, gloss, texture, or flake distribution because of normal aging, product changes, or differences between old and new materials. These reasonable differences are not separate warranty defects.
- Warranty service does not restart or extend the warranty. Any repaired area remains subject to the terms and limitations of this Limited Lifetime Residential Epoxy Floor Installation Warranty.
- This warranty does not provide reimbursement for work performed by another contractor unless Garage Designs approved that work in writing before it was performed.
4. Conditions and Damage Not Covered
A floor coating is installed over an existing concrete substrate. Garage Designs cannot control every condition within, beneath, or affecting that substrate. This warranty does not cover failure, damage, or appearance changes caused in whole or in part by:
- Cracking, movement, settlement, shifting, expansion, contraction, heaving, structural movement, foundation issues, or failure of the concrete slab.
- Movement at control joints, construction joints, expansion joints, saw cuts, cracks, patches, or previously repaired areas.
- Weak, deteriorated, contaminated, spalled, scaled, dusty, improperly cured, or otherwise defective concrete, including hidden or latent substrate conditions that were not reasonably detectable before installation.
- Hydrostatic pressure, moisture vapor transmission, groundwater, efflorescence, flooding, plumbing leaks, roof leaks, standing water, or any other moisture source or moisture-related slab condition.
- Failure within the concrete or substrate itself, including concrete that separates, breaks, powders, or pulls away while the coating remains bonded to it.
- Normal wear and tear, abrasion, scuffs, scratches, dulling, fading, discoloration, gloss changes, cosmetic aging, or loss of texture over time.
- Tire marks, tire staining, plasticizer migration, rust, oil, grease, automotive fluids, fertilizers, deicing products, battery acid, brake fluid, solvents, fuels, harsh cleaners, or other chemicals.
- Impact, puncture, chipping caused by impact, gouging, scraping, dragging heavy or sharp objects, metal wheels or casters, studded tires, tire chains, snowplows, welding, grinding, or similar activities.
- Misuse, abuse, neglect, accidents, excessive loads, improper maintenance, abrasive cleaning, or failure to follow Garage Designs’ written care instructions.
- Fire, extreme heat, extreme cold, flooding, storm damage, acts of nature, casualty, vandalism, or other events outside Garage Designs’ reasonable control.
- Commercial, industrial, rental, institutional, or other nonresidential use unless that use and separate warranty coverage are stated in the written contract.
- Exterior exposure or an installation location not expressly included as qualifying residential interior coverage in the written contract.
- Repairs, alterations, additional coatings, cleaning treatments, or other work performed by anyone other than Garage Designs without prior written approval.
- Failure to pay the project balance in full.
- Any condition specifically identified as excluded or accepted by the homeowner in the project proposal, contract, change order, or pre-installation documentation.
5. Transferability
This warranty is personal to the original contracting homeowner and is nontransferable. It ends when that homeowner sells, transfers, or otherwise ceases to own the residence, unless Garage Designs expressly agrees otherwise in a separate written document signed by an authorized representative.
6. Customer Responsibilities
To preserve warranty coverage, the homeowner must:
- Use and maintain the floor under normal residential interior conditions.
- Follow Garage Designs’ written cleaning, maintenance, and care instructions.
- Take reasonable steps to prevent additional damage after discovering a possible problem.
- Provide reasonable access to the installation area for inspection, testing, and covered repairs.
- Remove vehicles, stored items, and personal property from the affected area unless other arrangements are made in writing.
- Avoid altering or repairing the affected area before Garage Designs has had a reasonable opportunity to inspect it, except when immediate action is reasonably necessary to prevent property damage or personal injury.
7. How to Submit a Warranty Claim
Contact Garage Designs of St. Louis at 314-308-7780 or through the website contact form as soon as reasonably possible after discovering a potential warranty issue. Claims should be reported within 30 days after discovery.
Please provide:
- The homeowner’s name and contact information.
- The installation address.
- The approximate installation date or project invoice number.
- Clear photos or video showing the condition.
- A brief description of when the condition was first noticed and any events that may have contributed to it.
An unreasonable delay that materially increases the damage or prevents Garage Designs from determining the cause may reduce or eliminate coverage to the extent permitted by applicable law.
8. Inspection and Claim Determination
Garage Designs must have a reasonable opportunity to inspect the floor before warranty coverage is approved. Garage Designs may use reasonable inspection methods, adhesion testing, moisture testing, photographs, samples, installation records, product information, or a qualified third-party evaluation to determine the cause and scope of the condition.
A condition is covered only when Garage Designs determines, based on the available evidence, that it falls within the express coverage of this warranty and is not caused in whole or in part by an excluded condition. Garage Designs will communicate the claim determination and proposed remedy to the homeowner.
9. Manufacturer Warranties
Some coating products may carry a separate manufacturer warranty. Any manufacturer warranty is provided solely by that manufacturer and is governed by its own eligibility requirements, exclusions, registration requirements, remedies, and claim procedures.
A manufacturer warranty does not enlarge or replace the obligations Garage Designs expressly accepts under this warranty.
10. Limitation of Warranty Remedy
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Garage Designs’ obligation under this express limited warranty is limited to the repair, recoating, or replacement of the affected covered coating area as described above.
Garage Designs is not responsible under this warranty for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses, including loss of use, moving or storage expenses, vehicle rental, lodging, lost income, or damage to personal property.
Nothing in this warranty limits any legal right or remedy that cannot be limited or waived under applicable law. This warranty gives the homeowner specific legal rights, and the homeowner may also have other rights that vary by jurisdiction.
11. Complete Warranty Terms
This written warranty, together with the applicable project contract and written change orders, states the express warranty obligations of Garage Designs for the qualifying installation.
Any change to these terms must be in writing and signed by an authorized representative of Garage Designs of St. Louis, Inc.
Why Our Warranty Is Different
We clearly define limited lifetime coverage. For qualifying residential interior installations, covered installation-related failures are protected for as long as the original contracting homeowner owns the residence.
If a covered failure occurs, the remedy includes reasonable materials and ordinary installation labor for the affected area. The warranty also clearly identifies concrete, moisture, wear, damage, and other conditions outside the coating installation that are not covered.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does limited lifetime mean?
It means the original contracting homeowner is covered for qualifying installation-related failures for as long as that homeowner owns the residence where the floor was installed. The warranty ends when ownership ends.
What floor coating failures receive limited lifetime coverage?
Covered peeling, delamination, blistering, bubbling, and adhesion-related chipping may receive limited lifetime coverage when Garage Designs determines that the cause was solely a covered material defect or an error in Garage Designs’ surface preparation or application.
Does a covered repair include labor?
Yes. A valid covered repair includes reasonable materials and ordinary installation labor for the affected covered area.
Does the warranty cover every type of chip?
No. Chipping is covered only when it results from a covered loss of adhesion caused by defective materials or Garage Designs’ surface preparation or application. Chips caused by dropped tools, impact, gouging, abrasion, dragging objects, misuse, or normal wear are not covered.
Will Garage Designs replace the entire floor for a small covered area?
Not automatically. Garage Designs will repair, recoat, or replace the affected covered area. A complete floor replacement is required only when Garage Designs determines that it is reasonably necessary to complete the covered repair.
Are concrete cracks or moisture problems covered?
No. Concrete movement, cracking, substrate failure, hydrostatic pressure, moisture vapor, efflorescence, leaks, flooding, and other slab or moisture conditions are not coating installation defects and are excluded.
Is the warranty transferable to a new homeowner?
No. The warranty is nontransferable unless Garage Designs expressly agrees otherwise in a separate written document.
Is warranty registration required?
No separate customer registration is required. Garage Designs uses the signed contract and project records to confirm eligibility.
Does this warranty apply to older installations?
No. It applies only to qualifying contracts signed on or after July 15, 2026. Earlier projects remain governed by the warranty issued with those projects.
