Epoxy Garage Floor Installation
Licensed, bonded, insured. Diamond-ground concrete, 100% solids epoxy, and a limited lifetime residential warranty.
Epoxy garage floor installation is a resurfacing system that bonds a 100% solids epoxy base coat and a polyaspartic topcoat to diamond-ground concrete. Garage Designs of St. Louis has installed these floors across the Greater St. Louis metro since 2002. Brandon Coleman leads every job.
Packages start at $6 per square foot, and most garages take two to three days. A limited lifetime warranty covers residential floors against peeling, delamination, and blistering.
We’re licensed, bonded, and insured. Our work meets ANSI, ADA, and OSHA recommendations, and financing is available on qualifying projects.
Epoxy Flooring Systems We Install
Epoxy floor systems fall into three types: full flake, metallic, and solid color. All three use Floorguard HyperBond as the base coat and Aspartic 85 as the polyaspartic topcoat. The decorative layer between those two coats is what separates them. We will bring all samples of Metallic Mica Flake, Granite 1/4″ Flake, Crushed Granite 1/8 Flake, Quartz, and Chipped Stone with us on the free onsite consultation.
Full Flake Epoxy
Full flake epoxy is a chip-broadcast system that embeds decorative vinyl chips into the wet base coat at full coverage, then seals them under Aspartic 85. It’s our most popular residential choice. The chip layer hides dirt between cleanings, adds slip resistance, and stands up to hot tire pickup, chemicals, and daily traffic.
Available in dozens of color blends and chip sizes. No two garages look exactly the same.
Metallic Epoxy
Metallic epoxy is a pigmented system that suspends metallic particles in the coating to create depth and movement. Garages and showrooms where the floor is part of the design get this system most often. Aspartic 85 seals it for UV resistance and long-term durability.
No two metallic floors look exactly alike.
Solid Color Epoxy
Solid color epoxy is a single-tone system that finishes the floor in one uniform color with no decorative chip layer. Garages, workshops, basements, and utility spaces use it where a plain professional surface matters more than pattern. Aspartic 85 gives it the same durability and chemical resistance as the flake systems.
A low-maintenance option that stands up to heavy use year after year.
How Much Does Epoxy Floor Installation Cost?
Epoxy floor installation costs $6 to $10 per square foot installed. Three packages set that range: Good at $6, Better at $8, Best at $10. Every package includes diamond grinding, crack repair, and a limited lifetime warranty. Only the coating system and the topcoat count change.

Not sure which package is right for your garage?
We will walk you through it when we come out for your free estimate. Most homeowners with newer concrete choose Good. Homeowners with older slabs, finished garage interiors, or higher-traffic use typically step up to Better for the moisture barrier and the Best for the added coat.

Our Epoxy Floor Installation Process
Our epoxy floor installation process runs five steps: diamond grinding, moisture barrier, Floorguard HyperBond base coat, full flake broadcast, and Aspartic 85 polyaspartic topcoat. Prep decides the outcome. Grinding is what separates a floor that lasts a decade from one that peels in two years. Here is exactly what we do on every installation.
Step 1 : Diamond Grinding with Vacuum Attachment
Diamond grinding opens the surface profile of the concrete and strips any existing coating, using professional equipment with a vacuum attachment. We fill cracks and divots before any product touches the floor.
Step 2: Moisture Barrier (Better and Best Packages)
Moisture vapor rising through concrete is one of the leading causes of epoxy failure in St. Louis. We apply a moisture barrier after grinding to seal the slab, included in Better and Best packages.
Step 3: Floorguard HyperBond Base Coat
Floorguard HyperBond is a 100% solids epoxy base coat that forms a permanent mechanical bond with the concrete. Consumer kits use water-based products at 40 to 50% solids. HyperBond is not that.
Step 4: Full Flake Broadcast
The full flake broadcast drops decorative vinyl chips into the wet base coat at full rejection coverage, every square inch. That chip layer adds natural slip resistance and hides minor imperfections in the concrete.
Step 5: Aspartic 85 Polyaspartic Topcoat
Aspartic 85 is the wear surface, the waterproofing layer, and the finish that gives the floor its gloss. It resists UV yellowing, repels chemical spills, and handles hot tire traffic. Best package gets two coats.
How Long Does Epoxy Floor Installation Take?
Most residential garage floor installations take 2 to 3 days depending on the package selected and the condition of the existing concrete.
- For the Good package: Day 1 covers grinding, crack repair, base coat, and flake. Day 2 is the topcoat.
- For the Better and Best packages, Day 1 is grinding, crack repair, and moisture barrier. Day 2 is the base coat, flake, and topcoat. The Best package may require a partial third day if both topcoats cannot be applied in a single session.
Concrete in poor condition, significant crack repair, or very large spaces (three-car garages and above) may add time. We will give you a clear day-by-day schedule before we start.
Light foot traffic is typically safe 24 hours after the final topcoat. Vehicle traffic is safe at 48 to 72 hours.
Why Professional Epoxy Installation Beats a DIY Kit
Consumer epoxy kits cost a few hundred dollars at any home improvement store and look like the same product. They are not. Here is why it matters.
Consumer epoxy kits are water-based products at 40 to 50% solids content. Professional systems like Floorguard HyperBond are 100% solids. Higher solids content means better adhesion, better chemical resistance, better durability, and a thicker finished film. There is no comparison.
The bigger problem is prep. Proper concrete diamond grinding requires industrial equipment that is not available at consumer rental counters. When a DIYer skips or shortcuts the grind, the epoxy bonds to the surface of the concrete instead of mechanically into it.
The result is delamination, which shows up as peeling, bubbling, or lifting, usually within two to three years. Most of our calls come from homeowners who tried a kit first.
Our professional installations, done with proper prep and HyperBond plus Aspartic 85, routinely last 10 to 15 years under normal residential use. We have floors in St. Louis garages from the mid-2000s that are still going strong.

Other Residential Surfaces We Coat
Our epoxy and polyaspartic systems work on any concrete surface. In addition to garage floors, we regularly coat:
Basement Floors
Basement floors sit below grade, so they need a moisture barrier under the epoxy. We turn unfinished basement slabs into clean, sealed floors that resist moisture and wipe clean.
Pool Decks
Pool deck coatings need slip resistance, water resistance, and UV stability. Ours also handle the freeze-thaw cycles St. Louis winters put concrete through.
Patios and Walkways
Patios and walkways take a skid-resistant system built for sun and weather exposure. Ask us whether yours is a good candidate.
Driveways and Sidewalks
Driveways and sidewalks take the same epoxy and polyaspartic systems we use on garage floors. Ask us whether your project qualifies.
